Back to Our Regular Programming

>> Sunday, March 30, 2008

*sigh* Our 12-day break from work is over. Back to reality na naman tomorrow. Yikes! Though it is a good thing because:

  1. I miss some co-workers/good friends there. (It's good to talk and interact with others naman, aside from Wes and Therese)
  2. I need more sunshine. (I rarely went out during the break. Just today and last Sunday to attend Mass).
  3. I need my job. Obviously.
Things are going to be very busy at work. Summer is the peakest of all peaks at the office. It is going to be stressful, I tell yah. But I will remind myself over and over and over again that a new book is on its way before April ends. Plus I can scrap now. Plus I need to earn more because I want to buy more pretty kits from Kay Miller! See, I am so in love with her stuff! I have been talking about those pretties for what, 3 posts now?? :) But I am still too wrapped up with organizing my kits and stuff. I can't seem to start a page until I finished them all. And that's about a year from now. LOL! But I will. Yeah. Soon! Now that Mojo is almost back. Yeah! Mojo is back! I tried with a goddaughter's invite and birthday backdrop some hours ago and I am very much happy with what I was able to come up with! Yey!

Anyways, enough with my rants and raves. Allow
me to share another good find on the web. Introducing Scrap Stew Sue! She makes and gives out lovely Adobe Photoshop brushes and some overlays and embellishments. Go and visit her and as always, give thanks! :)

Spring Cleaning and Bar Exams 2007 Result

Hi everyone! As some of you noticed, I did a little spring cleaning on my blog. Notice my header way up there? Everything is from Kay Miller's Blue Lagoon Kit. Lovely, isn't it? :) Kay creates the cutest of all kits and if I only have the $$$$, I will buy them all! I am also happy to do some minor tweaking here despite my limitations on HTMLs and stuff. Yey me! The links are also grouped. I made a separate list for my digiscrapping friends from the PHP Forum. I included some paper scrappers too.

Anyways, the list of our new lawyers can be found HERE and those who topped the 2007 Bar Exams are HERE. Congratulations!

Happy Sunday, everyone! Off to prepare brunch and attend Mass. Later, gators! :D

Make A Wish!

Here's a tag from Hana, este, Alpha. Thanks! :)

The “Make A Wish” Meme.

The rules:

1. Think about what it is that you want more than anything, what your heart’s desire and fondest wish is, and what it is that you would wish for if you were to see the above wishing star flame across the night sky.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic above.
3. Use a graphics program of your choice and place your wish on this picture.

This time, I am tagging my online friends Eds, Lisa and Marie Grace.

This is Your Fault, Mojo!

>> Thursday, March 27, 2008

After much think-think-think (like Pooh Bear), I finally decided on two things:
  1. I will scrap on either 8 x 8 or 8 x 10. I will worry about printing and albums in the future. Once I have the layouts na.
  2. I wil do little enhancing on our photos (from way back January 2005 pa! Imagine that!) and crop to 4 x 6 and will have them printed and placed in albums. In that way, I will stop feeling guilty about these tons of photos not being scrapped. Since we got a digicam kasi, I stopped printing photos na. My bad!
(Hay. If you only knew how much frustration I've been feeling because of these self-imposed tasks. I stopped scrapping nga because of this confusion!)

Anyways, in relation to my #1, I been trying to scrap since last night and I've started and eventually deleted three layouts. It seems that my mojo is lost. I even camped at Shaui's blog for inspiration! But to no avail. *sigh*

Oh well... What I did today then is SHOP! Yeah, I did shop for digi kits. I am hoping that this will enable me to scrap again.
if you know me, I don't know buy on impulse. I have been eyeing Kay Miller's Happily Ever After Clay Bits for months! I find this super cute and so perfect for my little princess' pages. I should definitely use this in many, many layouts! LOL!And this one is out of season, okay. But Kate Hadfield's Nativity Doodle is on SALE at $1.75! Plus I am more of the Nativity scene thing than Santa Claus. ;)
Lastly, this Blue Lagoon by Kay Miller is intended for a god daughter's birthday stuff. And on Kaela's first beach trip too! Those photos are about 3 years old now! LOL!

I promised my Paypal that I will STOP shopping na. I am now convincing myself that I have loads of kits na. (Though I am still trying to find cute birthday kits naman. LOL!) But stop na, dapat. DELAYED GRATIFICATION is the magic phrase.

Hey, mojo! Come back! We have some pretty stuff to play with! LOL! Plus I only have three more days summer break left! Come na! Now na!

Casino en línea en Español...

...and in among other languages.

I have been writing about online casinos but I never really understood how these gaming sites work. Not until I visited Joyland Online Casino. No, I do not have the guts to play casino (yes, I do believe that you need to have the guts to play and lose, or win!). I just want to understand how these things work. Anyway, from what I learned from their fun and informative site, here's how you get started: Download an application. Once downloaded, it needs to be installed after you agreed on their site's terms and conditions. Next? You play by choosing from the variety of casino games available.

And can you say, "casino en linea"? ;) Yes, Joyland Online Casino is available in multiple languages, including Spanish.

Saving Tips

With the rising cost of basic commodities, what do you do to save up? Here are some of what my family does to at least cope with the hard days:

First, we got rid of our expensive helper/ caregiver and bought a washing machine instead! This is more practical since Therese is already 5 and does not need much caring compared to when she was younger. With the new washing machine, we do the laundry at least once or twice a week. This does only help us save on water but also on electricity. The weather here is usually hot so we do not need a spin drier.

Second, we save used water (like the one used for bathing or laundry) and use them to flush. This we learned from my parents in-law when we visited them. This and doing the laundry once or twice a week greatly reduced our water bill to almost 50%.

Third, we stock up on fish, vegetables and fruits instead of junk foods. We usually buy groceries with a full stomach since hunger moves us to buy more junk. Aside from that, I usually cook what we can consume at one meal time to avoid wastage.

Fourth, we unplug unused appliances. As testified by others, this is one sure way to cut on your electricity bills. Even if they are turned off, these appliances still use electricity. Thus it is wise to unplug them.

Speaking of electricity, I am amazed to discover that in other countries, consumers can avail of cheap electricity since they have choices when it comes to energy-provider. You see, in our place, an energy-providing company monopolizes the market. It would be amazing to have the freedom to choose the company where we can get cheap electricity. Imagine the amount that we can save with that! I can buy my DSLR in no time! Seriously, companies like Stream Energy does a great job in providing people with a smarter choice. They obtain electricity through a variety of sources to bring their consumers some of the lowest rates in the industry. For me, that is business with conscience! I hope that they can bring this too in third world countries like ours.

Limited Memory...

>> Saturday, March 22, 2008

...limits me! It takes time to open files, much more to run my digital image editing software. It was a bummer so I stopped digital scrapbooking for sometime. Instead of finding joy in creating layouts, it brought frustration and annoyance. That's why I felt liberated when I finally found Found My Best Deal on Memory. Now, with additional RAM, I can simultaneously run my digital image editing software along with my photo/graphic organizer. When I Got My Computer Memory Deal, I created layouts again. You can see one in my previous post. Not bad, eh? :) But with my growing collection of photos and digital scrapbooking kits, I am saving up for additional memory. There are lots of choices available, like Samsung, Hynix, Qimonda, Micron, Elpida. I just need to find one which is compatible with my unit.

Two days ago, our matchmaker/my former boss asked me through SMS re Kaela Therese's pedia's first name. I told her it's ISOBEL. It was only five hours later that I realized that I gave her the wrong name. actually, the pedia's name is ISOLDE. And the name, Isobel, is actually hers:

Let There be Light!

The first time I visited Wes' hometown, I was very much surprised and pleased with the effort of the Kapampangans (natives of Pampanga, a province in the Philippines) in beautifying their houses and yards, especially during the Yuletide season. Colors and lights are everywhere, thanks to led rope lighting. It may look plain during the day but at night time, my parents in-law's house is the most colorful and most lighted house among all houses in Margarita Street! One brother in-law, Ted, bought decorations depicting the nativity scene composed of the three kings and the Holy Family which are shaped using led rope lighting. These durable and great energy savers lights are so versatile. They are much practical compared to other outdoor display lights because they really last long, despite their exposure to heat and water. Indeed, led rope light is the BIG thing when it comes to decorative and accent lighting, whether for home or business use.

Cute as a Bug

>> Wednesday, March 19, 2008

FINALLY!

I have been reading Stacy Julian's The Big Picture and was inspired by her "My Favorite Photos" album. I have not scrapped a page for ages because of so many reasons and one of them is being overwhelmed by the number of photos that our family has. Believe me, they are plenty! Plus I have been undecided about the size of my layouts. Stacy has been a big help. And my friend, Shaui too! Thanks, girl!

If I remember it right, this is my first time to extract a photo for a layout. I find extracting time-consuming that is why I never liked it. However, in this case, the background isn't that complicated (buildings at the Ateneo) and extracting required less time and patience.

So, I am starting my own version of "My Favorite Photos".
My layout size is 4 x 6 inches. Two cute albums have been waiting for two years to be filled up. I have lots of favorite photos. And I know that there will be more. And there is really no pressure to finish the album. Scrap. Live. Enjoy. - that's me, talking to me. :)

Attention, Earthlings!

>> Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Obviously, we only have one Earth. Whether we like it or we like it very much (a phrase I caught from my boss), we are all obliged to take care of it. Or we all die. Or there is no future for our future generations. There are sooo many ways to show that we care. One of these is participating in the global movement called EARTH HOUR. Earth Hour "uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming".

It was initially launched in Australia last March 31, 2007 when about 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses in Sydney, Australia turned off their lights for one good hour.Their massive and collective effort cut down their city's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour. Even famous Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turned their lights off! Others got creative and initiated extraordinary affairs such as weddings by candlelight. With these massive effort and more, the world can't help but take notice. Inspired by the massed effort of millions of those residing in Sydney, various major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, thus, turning one symbolic and significant event into one global movement.

Here in the Philippines, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is encouraging us to shut off our lights from 8 to 9 in the evening on Saturday, March 29, 2008 in support of Earth Hour. For more information, visit Earth Hour's website. You may also want to signify your participation and support by going here. As of this time, there are 1467 persons in the Philippines who signed up! Yeah! :)

Be a responsible Earthling. Join this global movement and kindly spread the word by posting about Earth Hour in your blogs, or sending text messages and emails to your friends, relatives and colleagues.

March 29, 2008. 8 - 9 PM. It's a date!

I Am...

>> Saturday, March 15, 2008

...sickie again! I hate it. I will miss this weekend's big events such as the baccalaureate and graduation exercises at the university! I will miss seeing Atty. Adel Tamano in person. Not that I get kilig in case I do see him! LOL! I was given a special task actually, to be one of the documentors of the aforementioned events. I was supposed to be one of the photographers. Even if it can be tiring, I see it as a good opportunity to practice what I have learned so far in photography. Last year, I was also a part of that team and it was indeed a good experience. And I will be missing it this year. :(

I hate this drastic weather changes that trigger my asthma and cough and colds. I hope to get better soon. Really soon! Our summer break will start this coming Wednesday and I can't afford to be just lying down and recuperating. I have so many things to do on my list and I intend to get them done.

Celebrations
Anyways, today, my brother in-law who will become a priest soon is graduating. Congratulations, Dudley! You make us all proud! Also, my god daughter and niece, Mylene graduates from pre-school today and yesterday, another god daughter graduated from nursery and ranked 3rd, congratulations, Nana! Love yah, girls! Tomorrow is going to be my mother's birthday. Happy birthday Ma! And of course, three of our most active Peer Counselors and good friends of mine (and my favorite cousin too!) will be graduating from college. Congrats to Aring, Joniel and Ate Leng! You three are the best and we are very proud of you. You will be surely missed!

You all have a lovely weekend! And oh, speaking of weekends, here is one cute weekend greeting sent my way:Thanks, Jan!

I hope that you all have a great weekend! Gotta get back to bed and rest. Or else I will be reprimanded by the Husband. ;)

Ta-ta for now!

It' Been Like Ages...

...since I last posted here. Sorry! The birthday party preps really kept me tired and all. I promised to post some photos, which I will be doing soon. :) It's just that I don't have the time to resize them to fit the web's requirements. Work has been keeping me busy too since graduation is fast approaching. We have last minute programs which need to be implemented before this semester ends. Just today, I joined our Career Guidance team in a very bumpy and rocky trip, visited some schools and encouraged their graduating students to join us in the university. My, my! My entire body is really tired and aching that I slept upon coming home. My good husband just woke me up after two hours to have supper. I am one lucky wife! :)

Thankfully, we are going to have a 10-day summer break soon and I am definitely looking forward to that. I am expecting to spend more time with my loves, clean up and organize things around the house, finally scrap a layout or two, backup my digital kits (I still have tons to unzip!) and help our dear Mamitz in preparing for her parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration on May or June in New Jersey. I am verrry excited for them!

Graduation at our university will be this coming Sunday (my mother's birthday too) and our baccalaureate speaker is going to be the gorgeous Atty. Adel A. Tamano. His photo and bio and an interview are posted at our school's intranet and boy, the ladies and some gay friends are going gaga over him! There is going to be a dinner with him on Saturday but I don't think I will attend. I prefer spending the night with my more gorgeous man, Wesley. ;)

That's all for now! I hope that you are all having a lovely week!

...and it will be my Kaela Therese's 5th birthday! Yey!

The loot bags are now set and bundled up, ready to be distributed. The cheese sticks are also wrapped and will just be fried tomorrow. The spaghetti sauce is also ready and the pasta will just be cooked tomorrow. The cupcakes and birthday cake were also ordered. I thank Yani (my most favorite cousin) and Jonnel (or Joniel, whatever! Blame it on his birth certificate!) - who is like a kin to us too.

The birthday girl, on the other hand, slept soooo late. Maybe it is because we got company. The two boys (my left and right hands) are spending the night here with us and helped with the preparations.
These two are totally awesome! I could definitely not make it through this 5th birthday celebration without them! To you and you, thank you so very much!! There are others who also offered help in one way or another and I thank them all for making my precious girl's day special. ;)

Anyways, the birthday girl is now doing okay. We're hoping that she can attend class tomorrow afternoon. I still have to attend a meeting tomorrow morning so I can't really spend the morning with her. We'll be attending a thanksgiving Mass tomorrow afternoon. I don't have anything in mind yet, on what to serve to my family tomorrow evening. LOL! However, I am happy because Wes is around this time. Last year, we celebrated Kaela's birthday without him, because of his work.

Anyways, I will be hitting the sack now. Take care you all and have a fabulous Wednesday ahead! It is going to be a busy one

It was a Good Day!

Indeed it was! Hi everyone! Thank you so much to all of you who dropped by and left a message or two. I did not go online last night. I felt sooo tired. And it's refreshing to take a break from the www for at least 24 hours. LOL!

First, happy birthday to a very generous and good-looking brother in-law of mine, Jeff! May all your dreams and wishes come true! :)

Anyways, some updates on the party preparations. I decided to make my life easier and do away with the loot box I was talking about. I finally settled to plastic bags with tags. Gotta make those tags tomorrow. And guess what, some kind-hearted persons are making my little girl's day extra special! THANK YOU! She is actually asking for a toy xylophone (and we already have a sponsor for one! Thank you, Jeff and Tel!) You see, she saw their school's drum and bugle corps practice at the field. She was fascinated as I explain the instruments to her. I helped her remember her turtle xylophone toy from way, way back. Don't ask me where's that toy now because I don't know! That's why she is asking for one. :) I am getting excited for her big day (and it's because things are finally falling into place. And help keeps on pouring in!) :)

Here is another great news: the loving Husband finally bought me additional RAM! Yeah! We've been saving up for this and finally, finally! And do you what that means? No more excuses for me not to scrap! Yeah!! I tried running Photoshop CS2 and ACDSee 8 simultaneously and wow, it was fast!! The feeling? It was actually liberating!! :) Thank you, Love-Love!

Lastly, I am thinking of buying my own domain. Maybe on Friday to coincide with my girl's birthday. ;) I am fairly new to this but friends like Diane, Ate JennyL and Ate Melisse have been helpful in providing information. They only validate my conviction that I am very much blessed with lovely friends who make my life happier and hmmm...blessed! OK, I am being OA again but it's because I had a rough days behind me and I had friends who really stood by me. :) Now, are you a blessing to those who sorround you? Or are you a curse (just like bleep!)? LOL!

That's all for now but do come back as I will post some contest run by my generous online friends. As their grand prizes, one gives out a very lovely necklace and another generous soul will hand out $100. Tomorrow. ;)

Awards and Party Help Please!

>> Sunday, March 2, 2008

First, thanks to a friend, Butchay, for these awards! Thanks, girl! You really rock!

Anyways, happy Sunday, everyone! I hope it was a happy one for you. It was a busy one for me since I have been preparing for the 5th birthday of who else but my lovely, sweetie, cutie daughter! =) Yep, my baby will turn 5 this week! It will be a simple celebration at school on Friday. Instead of making my life easy, I am going to make it more difficult by making party boxes instead of party bags. A very good friend of mine, Jonnel and I already bought the goodies for the boxes, plus the materials to create them. However, I don't have the party box template yet! LOL! So off I will go now and scout for the ideal party box template. ;) Drop me a line here please if you know one. Thanks!

And before I forget, the aforementioned awards are now handed over to Ate JennyL, Diane, Alpha, Ate Melisse and Juliana!

Have a great week, everyone!
